Rangers and Phils both out to 2-0 series leads.
We are through two
days of League Championship Series play, and two teams are out to 2-0 series leads.
Let’s look and see how we got there.
Texas Rangers vs Houston Astros:
Texas has jumped out to a 2-0 series lead over Houston after a narrow 5-4 victory
in Game Two of the series. Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi was excellent, going
six innings, allowing five hits, three runs, and striking out nine. The biggest
spot in the game came in the 5th inning, when the Astros loaded the
bases with nobody out. Eovaldi was able to escape the jam and did not allow a
single run. Texas got on Astros starter Framber Valdez in the top of the 1st
inning with a four-run inning. Six of the first seven batters Texas reached
base in the first inning. Houston scored a run in four separate innings but
could never put together a big inning. Game Three is set for Wednesday night at
8:03EST. Houston will give the ball to Christian Javier (1-0, 0.00ERA) and
Texas will have the returning Max Scherzer on the hill as he makes his first
start since September 12th.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Philadelphia
Phillies: Philadelphia remains undefeated in the playoffs as they put a hurting
on Arizona with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday night. The Phillies continue to use
the longball and excellent pitching. Philadelphia used a homer from shortstop
Trea Turner and two from designated hitter Kyle Schwarber. Starting pitcher
Aaron Nola was brilliant, going six innings while only allowing three hits and
striking out seven. Arizona will look to bounce back in Game Three, which will
be Thursday night in Arizona.
