Atta Boy Harper. Phils use longball to advance to NLCS.
The Divisional Round Series have wrapped up and we now have our matchups for both the NLCS and ALCS, with all four teams winning 90 games or less. Let’s take a look at how the divisional series wrapped up.
Minnesota Twins vs. Houston
Astros: Houston narrowly escaped Game Four with a 3-2 victory and clinched a
berth to their SEVENTH straight ALCS. No matter your feelings on a team, that
is one extremely impressive feat. Houston was led by homeruns from Michael
Brantley and Jose Abreu. The Houston bullpen was dominant, going three and a
third shutout innings. Houston will now play host to the Texas Rangers in what
is anticipated to be an action-packed seven game series between the two divisional
rivals.
Philadelphia Phillies vs.
Atlanta Braves: The Philles have done it again as for the second consecutive
season, they have knocked the Braves out of the postseason with a 3-1 victory. The
Phillies used 11 homeruns in this series, including six of those 11 in their
10-2 Game Three victory. Four of those long balls came from Nick Castellanos
and three came from Bryce Harper. Atlanta’s offense seemed to go ice-cold, as superstars
Ronald Acuna Jr. and Matt Olson went a combined 6 for 30 at the plate. Philadelphia
will move on to their second straight NLCS, and they will welcome the Arizona
Diamondbacks to town for the first two games of the series.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los
Angeles Dodgers: Arizona remains undefeated in postseason play as they made a
statement and swept the Los Angeles Dodgers. Arizona’s victory was fueled by the
first four homerun inning by a team in MLB postseason history. Arizona got in the
postseason as the last team in, and here they are advancing to their first NLCS
since 2007. As for the Dodgers, the starting pitching was abysmal, tallying
over a 20.00 ERA from their starters. Superstars Mookie Betts and Freddie
Freeman going a combined 1 for 21 also didn’t help their case. Arizona will
once again hit the road and travel to Philadelphia to face the Phillies in a
matchup of two Wild Card teams.
