Texas-Sized Sweep. Rangers advance to first ALCS in 12 years!

We are through four days of Divisional Series play, and we have already seen some of the best moments and plays in recent postseason memory. Let’s take a look at how we’ve gotten there.

          Texas Rangers vs. Baltimore Orioles: The Texas Rangers dominated all three games of this series in route to their 3-0 series sweep over the Baltimore Orioles. The Rangers were led by their high-powered offense in all three games in which they averaged seven runs per game in the series. The pitching for Texas was also stellar as they allowed a little under four runs per game. Baltimore struggled to get production from their young offense that carried them for so much of the regular season. Texas moves on to their first ALCS since 2011, and they will await the winner of the Twins-Astros series.

            Minnesota Twins vs. Houston Astros: These two teams split the first two games in Houston. The Astros escaped Game One with a 6-4 win after a dominant start from Justin Verlander, who went six shutout innings with six strikeouts. Yordan Alvarez also added two homeruns including a late-game homer that gave the Houston bullpen an insurance run. Minnesota took Game Two of the series 6-2, after a brilliant start from Pablo Lopez who went seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts. Former Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa drove in three runs against his former team. The Astros dominated Game Three and took home a 9-1 victory to go up two games to one in the series. Christian Javier struck out nine batters over five innings of work. The Astros scored four in the first inning and continued to add on throughout the game. Game Four will take place on Wednesday with neither starting pitcher being announced yet.

            Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves: This highly anticipated rematch has been well worth the watch through the first few games. The Phillies took Game One 3-0 after a dominant pitching performance from both Ranger Suarez and the entire Phillies bullpen. Game Two was an all-timer of a game, with the Braves coming from behind to win 5-4. The Braves were no-hit through five innings before scoring five in their final three innings at the plate. Braves centerfielder Michael Harris combined with Austin Riley and Matt Olson to turn one of the best double-plays in MLB Postseason history. Game three will take place on Wednesday with the Braves not yet announcing a starter. Aaron Nola will toe the hill for Philadelphia.

            Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers: The Diamondbacks shocked a lot of people by taking the first two games of the series in Los Angeles. Arizona took Game One by a score of 11-2 and Game Two by a score of 4-2. They did this by scoring a combined nine runs in the first inning of games one and two. Both Merrill Kelly and Zac Gallen have given Arizona phenomenal starting pitching, along with an excellent bullpen performance in both games. Game Three of this series will take place on Wednesday with neither team announcing a starting pitcher.

League Championship Series Underway. Rangers with 1-0 lead, Snakes and Phils set to begin tonight.

  We are down to the final four teams in MLB Playoffs and League Championship Series action got underway on Sunday. Let’s recap that game and take a look at what’s to come.                 Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros: These division rivals began the ALCS on Sunday night with the Rangers coming out on top 2-0 in Game One. Rangers starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery was dominant, going six and a third innings, allowing only five hits, one walk, and striking out six. The Rangers received offensive contributions from catcher Jonah Heim and outfielder Leody Taveras. Astros starter Justin Verlander was also brilliant going six and two thirds' innings, allowing six hits, two runs, and striking out five. Game two is set for Monday afternoon at 4:37 EST on Fox.   Both the NLCS and ALCS have been completed, and we have our matchup for the 2023 World Series! The Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Texas Rangers. Let’s take a look at how we got there.             Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros: After taking a commanding 2-0 lead, then losing all three games at home, the Rangers bounced back to win Game Seven and advance to their first fall classic since 2011. Their 11-4 victory in Game Seven was powered by their offense, more specifically, Adolis Garcia, who after being drilled by a 99mph fastball in Game Five, went 5-10 with 9rbi’s in Games six and seven. Texas continued to get production from Mitch Garver in the DH spot as well. The Astros pitching continued to struggle, as their starter Christian Javier did not make it out of the first inning.
