Rangers win first World Series in franchise history!

Image
For the first time in their 63-year franchise history, the Texas Rangers have won the World Series! They defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-1 in the series, capturing the World Series title. Here is how they did it.  Texas was powered by lights out pitching and their offensive trio of Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, and Adolis Garcia. To go along with these three offensive superstars, starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi tied the postseason record for wins by a pitcher in the postseason with five. Outside of Texas's 11-7 victory in Game Four, the bullpen was dominant for the Rangers. The Diamondbacks struggled to find offense in the series outside of Tommy Pham and Ketel Marte.      For the Rangers, Corey Seager became only the fourth player in MLB history to win the World Series MVP two times in a career. Seager, who signed with the Rangers two years ago, joined Reggie Jackson, Sandy Koufax, and Bob Gibson. If you know anything about baseball, you know that is s...

World Series even after 2 games.

Image
Through two games, the 2023 World Series is tied 1-1. The Rangers took Game One in dramatic fashion with a walk-off homerun from Adolis Garcia. Garcia's walk-off came in the bottom of the 11th inning, two innings after Corey Seager hit a game-tying homer off of Diamondbacks closer, Paul Sewald. The walk-off homer for Garcia gave him the most RBIs in MLB Postseason History. With at least three games left in the series, we should see Garcia expand his RBI total.     Arizona would bounce back in Game Two with a dominant 9-1 victory. D-Backs starter, Merrill Kelly, was brilliant, going seven innings, only allowing three hits, one run, and striking out nine. His postseason ERA lowered to 2.25 after this outing. The Arizona offense was led by a 4-4 performance from outfielder Tommy Pham. This marked Arizona's first World Series victory since Game Seven of the 2001 World Series.      Game Three will see Max Scherzer (0-1, 9.45 ERA) vs. Brandon...

Snakes and Rangers advance to World Series.

Image
Both the NLCS and ALCS have been completed, and we have our matchup for the 2023 World Series! The Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Texas Rangers. Let’s take a look at how we got there.             Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros: After taking a commanding 2-0 lead, then losing all three games at home, the Rangers bounced back to win Game Seven and advance to their first fall classic since 2011. Their 11-4 victory in Game Seven was powered by their offense, more specifically, Adolis Garcia, who after being drilled by a 99mph fastball in Game Five, went 5-10 with 9rbi’s in Games six and seven. Texas continued to get production from Mitch Garver in the DH spot as well. The Astros pitching continued to struggle, as their starter Christian Javier did not make it out of the first inning. This series became the second MLB playoff series in history in which the road team won all seven games.        ...

Two Words: Game Seven.

Image
The two best words a sports fan can hear, are Game Seven. The Texas Rangers and Houston Astros are set to square off in Game Seven of the ALCS to see who will advance to the World Series. Tempers flared in games five and six, so let's see how we got here.     Game Five was one of the more memorable games in postseason history. Adolis Garcia launched a three-run homer to give Texas a 4-2 lead in the 6th inning. Things got interesting in the 8th inning, when Astros pitcher Bryan Abreu drilled Garcia with a 99mph fastball. The benches cleared, and after the dust had settled, Abreu and Astros manager Dusty Baker were ejected, along with Garcia. In the top half of the 9th, Astros second baseman Jose Altuve blasted a go ahead three-run homer to give Houston the 5-4 lead. Altuve is second in MLB history in postseason homeruns, trailing only Manny Ramirez. Closer Ryan Presley would slam the door on Texas to give the Astros the 5-4 victory and the 3-2 series lead. ...

Phillies a win away from second straight World Series

Image
The Philadelphia Phillies are one win away from their second straight World Series appearance. Let's take a look at how Games four and five went out in the dessert.          The Diamondbacks were able to steal Game Four from the Phillies with a come-from-behind 6-5 victory. Arizona jumped out to an early 2-0 after RBI hits from Emmanuel Rivera and Gabriel Moreno. The Phillies would rally back and score the next five runs of the game using the homerun ball and a little bit of small ball as well, to open up a 5-2 lead. Arizona rallied from down 5-2 in the 8th inning and would score four runs in the inning to win the game. Diamondbacks outfielder Alek Thomas tied the game with a pinch-hit two run homer in the bottom of the 8th. That was followed by a go-ahead RBI single from Moreno, his second RBI base hit of the game. Arizona's closer Paul Sewald stranded the tying run on second base to end the game.     Game Five was a much different story as Phi...

Astros and Diamondbacks get back on track.

Image
The Houston Astros and Arizona Diamondbacks have made their respective league championship series interesting after the last couple of days. Let’s take a look at how both these teams were able to do this.             Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros: After losing the first two games of the series at their home ballpark, the Astros have bounced back and won two of the first three games in Arlington. The Astros offense seems to have found their stride as they have scored 18 runs over their last two games. Astros outfielder Mauricio Dubon started the last two games for Houston, and he caught fire, collecting five hits and playing stellar defense. Texas’s pitching has been an issue during these last two games, surrendering seven runs in the first three innings of each games combined. One bright spot for the Rangers has been shortstop Corey Seager, who has continued to tear the cover off the baseball, improving his postseason av...

Rangers and Phils both out to 2-0 series leads.

Image
We are through two days of League Championship Series play, and two teams are out to 2-0 series leads. Let’s look and see how we got there.               Texas Rangers vs Houston Astros: Texas has jumped out to a 2-0 series lead over Houston after a narrow 5-4 victory in Game Two of the series. Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi was excellent, going six innings, allowing five hits, three runs, and striking out nine. The biggest spot in the game came in the 5 th inning, when the Astros loaded the bases with nobody out. Eovaldi was able to escape the jam and did not allow a single run. Texas got on Astros starter Framber Valdez in the top of the 1 st inning with a four-run inning. Six of the first seven batters Texas reached base in the first inning. Houston scored a run in four separate innings but could never put together a big inning. Game Three is set for Wednesday night at 8:03EST. Houston will give the ball to Chri...
